Since 2012 findings from retirement specialists LV show that 86% of grandparents have financially helped their grandchildren. Financial help has been from areas such as contributing to child trust funds, giving pocket money and even supporting older grandchildren with university fees and deposits for first time home purchases. The research suggests that the cost of living has encouraged grandparents to step in financially. More than half (52%) of grandparents also plan to give the next generation financial assistance within the next five years.
