In Brief: Tax credit on dividends abolished

Changes to the amount of income from a divided before tax is added is to change from April this year, and has been removed, and replaced by a tax-free Dividend Allowance. Regardless of non-dividend income you have, the first £5,000 of income from Dividend?s will be tax free. New stages of tax will then be applied to anything over the first £5,000, only those with significant dividend income will pay more tax.
