The outbreak of coronavirus lead to the biggest daily drop in the FTSE since the 1987 financial crisis. Market volatility and trying to second guess this rarely pays off. Focusing on your long-term investment horizons on the other hand historically works out better. It is perfectly normal for investors to become nervous. This being said, a well-diversified portfolio with an appropriate risk tolerance and time horizon, can help to take advantage of the unique opportunities of different types of market conditions.
