Research from LV shows that as the length of retirement increases, it is more likely that more people will go into care. The average length of stay in a care home has also increased over the last ten years; a rough average shows that the length of stay is around two years and seven months. With some approaching retirement having only the State Pension to rely on, two fifths used savings to cover the cost of care, while one in five sold their home to pay the bills.
