In Brief: Protecting renters affected by coronavirus

Measures brought in by the Government to protect renters in social or private accommodation include that landlords now have to give all renters three months’ notice if they intend to seek possession. From 27 March 2020, the court service suspended all ongoing housing possession action. With more than one fifth of UK households living in privately rented accommodation further advice is to seek to build a positive relationship with your landlord; speak to your landlord if you think you will have difficulty meeting a rental payment.
